
OAKLEY, Calif. (Feb. 1, 2023) — A man riding a motorcycle died early Sunday in a crash with another motorist on Laurel Road and Mellowood Drive in Oakley.
The deadly crash occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29th, according to the Oakley Police Department and Contra Costa News.
Police reportedly came to the scene of the two-vehicle crash involving the rider who collided with a vehicle that turned in front of his bike.
Investigators say the motorcyclist was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when another motorist turned from Laurel Road onto Mellowood Drive. Upon impact, the motorcycle continued traveling more than 200-yards uphill on Laurel Road, the report said.
The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and an AMR ambulance responded, but sadly the man in his 40s from the motorcycle died at the scene.
Investigators continue to work on the case and will determine fault for the motorcycle crash on Laurel Road.
