Woman Struck, Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Oildale
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (June 28, 2022) — A driver in an SUV struck and killed a female pedestrian Monday night as she crossed Chester Avenue in Oildale.
Additionally, the fatal Oildale pedestrian accident occurred about 8:53 p.m. on June 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP report stated a black Yukon struck the pedestrian in the roadway as she allegedly walked in a westerly direction across the southbound lanes outside of a marked crosswalk at Chester and Lincoln avenues.
A preliminary investigation found that the driver in the SUV slowed to avoid the pedestrian, but the driver told authorities the woman continued walking across southbound lanes directly into the path of his SUV, the CHP said.
The motorist struck Christina Eileen Walker, 50, and she suffered major injuries. She later died at the scene, police said.
The fatal Oildale pedestrian accident remains under investigation by the CHP.
