2 Killed in Crash on State Route 70 in Oroville
OROVILLE, Calif. (June 4, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle crash happened Tuesday morning on northbound Highway 70, just north of Montgomery Street in Oroville.
Two people died in the collision between a white Volkswagen CC and a red Ram pickup truck.
Two people riding together in the Volkswagen were reportedly stopped in the northbound lanes of Highway 70 on the Feather River Bridge.
Meanwhile, Elijah Kinser of Oroville was driving the Ram pickup truck and failed to notice the stopped Volkswagen. He reportedly rear-ended the car at roughly 65 mph and both people in the car suffered fatal injuries.
Paramedics confirmed the deaths and treated Kinser for minor injuries at the scene.
Investigators continue to work on the case and the identities of the Volkswagen occupants will be released after relatives are notified.
It’s unknown if the occupants in the Volkswagen were wearing seatbelts.
