Deadly, Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident on Highway 70
OROVILLE, Calif. (July 6, 2022) – A fatal Oroville pedestrian accident happened Tuesday at Highway 70 at the Garden Drive off-ramp.
A driver struck the pedestrian around 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 5th at the off-ramp from northbound Highway 70, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. Police located pieces of a car’s headlight near the body of the victim in the roadway.
Later, police pieced together evidence and determined the suspect’s vehicle is either a 2005-2007 Ford Super Duty or Ford Excursion. Futhermore, the vehicle will have a missing right front headlight and probably damage to the hood, right front fender and the right portion of the front bumper, the CHP said.
CHP investigators are checking the area for any cameras near the Garden Drive exit on Highway 70.
However, this is a rural area with very few homes or businesses nearby.
