Woman Killed, 2 Injured in Otay Mesa Collision
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2022) — A woman is dead and two others critically injured early Wednesday after a vehicle veered off a southbound Interstate 805 Freeway ramp near Otay Mesa.
The collision occurred about 3:16 a.m. on Oct. 26th at the transition ramp to the State Route 905, according to California Highway Patrol.
An 18-year-old woman driving the white BMW reportedly lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a tree, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The three people were riding together in the car when it went off the southbound Interstate 805 transition ramp, police said.
San Diego Fire-Rescue responded and had to cut off the roof of the vehicle and pull out three women from the wreckage.
A passenger from the vehicle died at the scene, but there are no further details about her.
Two other women suffered major injuries in the wreck.
An investigation by the CHP into the circumstances is ongoing.
