Fatal Oxnard Crash Pleasant Valley Road at Laguna Road

One Killed, Two Injured at Oxnard Intersection

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2023) — A 47-year-old Oxnard woman died and her passenger was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on East Pleasant Valley Road at Laguna Road on the Oxnard Plain.

The traffic accident occurred at around 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the Oxnard woman was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra sedan when she attempted to turn left from Laguna Road onto Pleasant Valley Road. A northbound 2008 Jeep SUV struck the Nissan at the intersection, causing both vehicles to veer off the roadway into a drainage ditch.

Firefighters from Ventura and Oxnard responded to the scene.

The driver and passenger from the sedan became trapped in their vehicle. The woman died at the scene shortly after being extricated by firefighters. The 39-year-old Oxnard man riding as her passenger survived with major injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Oxnard man driving the Jeep sustained minor injuries, but declined treatment.

Both vehicles were towed for evidence.

Investigators closed down Pleasant Valley Road in both directions and they continue to work on the case to determine liability.
