Fatal Pedestrian Accident 24th Street Bridge in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 10, 2026) — A deadly, hit-and-run pedestrian accident involving several vehicles happened early Monday on the 24th Street bridge over the Kern River in Bakersfield.

The multi-vehicle fatality crash occurred around 5:35 a.m. on August 10th, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Several drivers struck the victim and fled the scene without stopping to help the pedestrian.

The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the westbound side of 24th Street where they located the pedestrian and the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the person who died was not released, pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, detectives are working on the case until around 9 a.m. and searching for the suspects who fled the scene.
