Deadly Crash on Freeway in Sherman Oaks
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (July 20, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Thursday morning on the Interstate 405 Freeway near Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks.
The auto versus pedestrian collision occurred around 7:14 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the I-405 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The LAFD reported they responded to the scene and located a deceased person on the freeway.
It appears the driver failed to stop following the 405 Freeway pedestrian accident as there are no details about the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Medical Examiner responded. They later identified Gary Mullarney, 45, as the pedestrian who died in the crash.
The CHP is heading up an investigation into what happened. The coroner will release the victim’s name and age after notifying family members.
