Deadly Pedestrian Accident, Several Collisions on I-5 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident and several other collisions happened early Tuesday morning on the northbound Intestate 5 Freeway in San Diego.
The deadly crash occurred at around 3:13 a.m. on Dec. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a driver in a white 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV struck a pedestrian, just south of Dairy Mart followed by three separate non-injury collisions.
It’s unknown what led up to the pedestrian fatality crash. Police responded and set up a hard closure on the freeway to conduct an investigation into liability.
Meanwhile, a tow truck removed the damaged vehicles from the freeway, including the Mitsubishi SUV.
The CHP is heading up an investigation into fault for the crash.
