Man, 44, Killed in Crash in Colina Del Sol Area; Driver Arrested
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 3, 2024) – A 44-year-old man died following a pedestrian accident at El Cajon Boulevard and 50th Street Thursday night in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood of San Diego.
Also, an underaged suspected drunk driver was arrested after the collision, according to the San Diego Police Department and ABC 10 News.
Police officers responded to the intersection at around 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 2nd, the report said.
Witnesses told them a man was observed running south in the 4900 block of El Cajon Boulevard just before being hit by a vehicle.
The 20-year-old man driving the vehicle was heading eastbound in the number one lane of El Cajon Boulevard.
The unidentified pedestrian reportedly stopped running and was standing in the No. 2 lane before he turned around and ran into the path of the vehicle.
The pedestrian sustained major head trauma and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital. The man later died at the hospital at around 9:37 p.m. the same day.
The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is heading up the investigation into the collision.
