Man, 77, Struck, Killed in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Monday at 68th Street and Imperial Avenue in San Diego’s Skyline community.
The traffic collision occurred at around 5:45 a.m. at 68th Street and Imperial Avenue in San Diego, according to Fox 5 San Diego.
A 77-year-old man was hit by a vehicle in the westbound No. 2 lane of Imperial Avenue in San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The victim reportedly stepped out from a “place of safety” into traffic lanes in front of a Ford F-150 pickup truck, the report said.
Paramedics responded and located the pedestrian with fatal injuries. Sadly, he died at the scene of the collision.
The driver in the Ford truck stopped and cooperated with the investigation. The pickup had front-end damage from the accident, but the 41-year-old man driving it was not hurt.
Meanwhile, the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is heading up the investigation into the crash to determine fault.
It’s unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
