Pedestrian Killed in Crash on I-710 Freeway in Bell
BELL, Calif. (May 5, 2020) — A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed in a collision early Tuesday morning on the Interstate 710 Long Beach Freeway in Bell.
The collision was reported about 2:08 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place in the southbound slow lane of the freeway, bringing traffic to a stop. The driver was traveling about 55 mph when the vehicle hit the pedestrian.
Police reported that a driver in a red Toyota Corolla stopped after the crash. The motorist, a 42-year-old Bell Gardens man, cooperated with the investigation by police. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and it appears that they died at the scene shortly after the arrival of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation to determine fault. Witnesses are urged to call the CHP East Los Angeles Area office at 323-980-4600.
