Driver Hits Pedestrian, Bicyclist on I-805 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 30, 2024) — A person walking or riding a bicycle along the 805 Freeway was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident near the Palm Avenue off ramp last night in San Diego.
The deadly collision occurred on the southbound I-805 at around 7:42 p.m. on May 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol report.
A man and woman were reportedly walking with bicycles and a dog on the right shoulder of the freeway when one or both were struck by a white 2005 Toyota sedan and or a white Toyota 4Runner SUV.
The CHP and San Diego Police Department reportedly closed down the Palm Avenue off ramp and came to rescue one person trapped underneath the vehicle.
Paramedics arriving at the scene began CPR on the person, but they died shortly after the collision at 8:06 p.m., the CHP report said.
Tow trucks removed at least one vehicle involved from the crash scene.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the pedestrian accident on the 805 Freeway.
