Man, 61, Struck by Vehicle, Killed in South LA Crosswalk
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 23, 2024) – A 61-year-old man died Sunday night when a driver struck the pedestrian in a crosswalk on 81st Street in the Vermont Knolls area of South Los Angeles.
The deadly crash happened around 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22nd at the intersection with Hoover street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The vehicle hit the man as he was crossing 81st Street in an eastbound direction, police said. He was in the middle of the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
Paramedics responded and transported the injured man to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, the motorist involved stopped and called for help, the LAPD said.
