
FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2023) — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian identified as Madison Allen Jr., 67, in an accident at South Elm and East California avenues in Fresno.
The collision occurred about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17th, just west of Highways 99 and 41, according to Tony Botti, PIO, Fresno County Sheriff Coroner.
The man was struck by a Nissan Altima traveling northbound on South Elm Avenue in southwest Fresno.
The woman driving the Nissan struck the man as he was attempting to cross California Avenue, police said.
Authorities believe the woman was unable to avoid hitting the man in the roadway. Madison Allen Jr. suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver stopped and remained at the crash scene at California Avenue and Elm Avenue in Fresno. Investigators say she is cooperating with the investigation.
Police reported this is the seventh fatal crash Fresno so far this year.
