Infant Girl Killed, Woman and Child Injured
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 19, 2023) — A driver struck three pedestrians late Tuesday in a car accident at King Road and Havana Drive in San Jose.
The deadly crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on July 18th at the San Jose intersection, according to a press release by the San Jose Police Department.
The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV was traveling southbound on King Road. Meanwhile, a woman and her children were crossing King Road outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver reportedly had a green light at Havana Drive and struck the three pedestrians as they crossed in a westbound direction.
Paramedics responded and rushed the older child and the woman to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries, but sadly, the infant girl, died at the scene, police said. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has not released the infant’s name.
Meanwhile, the man driving the Tahoe stopped and cooperated with the investigation.
The San Jose Police Department closed down the intersection for several hours to investigate the crash scene.
Police reported the infant’s death is the 17th pedestrian fatality this year and it’s the 27th traffic death so far in 2023.
