Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Van in Midway District
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2023) — A 65-year-old man was struck and killed Friday night in the 3600 block of Camino Del Rio West near the Intestate 8 Freeway in Midway District.
A driver in a Mercedes Sprinter Van struck the victim at around 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 27th, according to the Times of San Diego.
San Diego Police reported the 74-year-old man driving the van had just exited the freeway and was traveling on Camino Del Rio West when he struck the victim walking in the roadway.
Paramedics responded to help the unidentified man, but he died on scene from traumatic injuries. The news report stated the victim was homeless.
Meanwhile, the driver of the van and two passengers were not injured in the collision.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the accident on Camino Del Rio. Witnesses are asked to call 858-495-7800 or San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
