
Man, 20, Struck, Killed on Chestnut Avenue
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (June 13, 2023) — A 20-year-old man died early Tuesday in a pedestrian accident at East Central Avenue and South Chestnut Avenue in Fresno.
A driver in a truck struck the young man around 3 a.m. on June 13th in the Malaga area of Fresno County, according to ABC 30 News.
The 20-year-old and his 17-year-old friend were both allegedly running across the road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told CHP officers the two young people were apparently running in an eastbound direction across Central Avenue when a northbound Toyota traveling on Chestnut Avenue struck the man.
The driver reportedly swerved in a failed attempt to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The teenage friend ran over to a convenience store to call 911 for help.
Paramedics responded and located the victim trapped under the vehicle He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities closed down the southbound lanes of Chestnut Avenue to conduct an investigation.
The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner has not identified the man who died.
