Pedestrian Struck, Killed on Highway 1
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (August 16, 2022) — A fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 1 happened Sunday morning, just south of Springfield Road near Moss Landing.
The deadly 6 a.m. crash on August 14th involved a female pedestrian and a 2018 Honda Accord, according to a report by East Bay Times.
The woman was reportedly walking in a northbound direction in the southbound lanes of Highway 1
Meanwhile, a southbound driver in the 2018 Honda Accord struck the pedestrian and then stopped to help her. However, despite efforts to warn other drivers there was a pedestrian down in the roadway, at least two other motorists hit the woman.
Sadly, the pedestrian suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not release the victim’s name, age or city of residence.
Meanwhile, there is an investigation underway by the CHP to determine if drugs or alcohol are factors. So far, there are no indications that DUI was a factor in the crash.
