Truck Hits Man on Highway 101 in Cotati Area
COTATI, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2024) — A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning by a semi-truck driver in an accident on southbound Highway 101, just north of West Railroad Avenue in Cotati.
Also, the collision occurred at around 5 a.m. on Feb. 8th near a trucking brake check area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 5:15 a.m., CHP officials were alerted to a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans who was standing near a disabled vehicle with no lights on. Patrol officers headed out to check on the man who could have been stranded on the highway.
However, at 5:31 a.m., police received a 911 call that a semi-truck hit a pedestrian in the fast lane. The victim was thrown into the No. 3 lane and the driver of the Peterbilt truck pulled over on the right shoulder.
The unidentified man sustained fatal injuries on scene, but there is no further information about the victim’s age or identity.
Meanwhile, a tow truck responded to remove the disabled 4-door Kia sedan from the roadway.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the pedestrian accident on Highway 101 in Cotati.
