Teenage Boy Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 180
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (May 6, 2021) — A fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 180 in Fresno County left a 19-year-old man with fatal injuries.
The Clovis teenager was riding in the back of a truck. The driver pulled over at the Fowler Avenue off-ramp to let the young man out about 10:20 p.m. on May 5th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
As the victim allegedly exited the truck and ran out onto the highway where he was struck almost immediately by an eastbound Toyota Corolla, the CHP said. Witnesses told authorities the teen stepped out directly into the path of the motorist.
Police investigating the fatal crash confirmed the victim was under the influence of alcohol, according to You Central Valley.
Highway 180 Crash Investigation
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old man driving the Toyota stopped following the crash. The person is cooperating with the investigation into the pedestrian accident on Highway 180.
Also, the name of the teenager who died will be released after relatives are notified.
Finally, police closed down the eastbound lanes of Highway 180 after the collision for several hours to investigate the circumstances.
