Man Struck, Killed on Highway 4 in Brentwood
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. (March 30, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Thursday on the eastbound Highway 4 near the Lone Tree Way on ramp in Brentwood.
The incident happened around 3:52 a.m. on March 30th, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
A driver in a red Toyota Camry struck the pedestrian who was with two other people and engaged in an argument. A man allegedly wielding a hatchet attempted to hit the victim, but he moved out of the way and got struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics responded and the man was pronounced dead around 4:35 a.m., the report said.
Meanwhile, a tow truck removed the damaged Toyota from the roadway.
An investigation into liability for the crash is underway.
