Deadly Crash on State Route 99 in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (May 31, 2024) — A fatal Bakersfield pedestrian accident happened Friday morning on northbound Highway 99 at Merced Avenue in Kern County.
The traffic accident occurred at around 1:38 a.m. on May 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported there was a person wearing dark clothing deceased on the right shoulder of the highway.
Meanwhile, the driver involved reportedly exited the highway at the Merced Avenue off ramp and stopped in the Taco Loco and Flying J parking lot. The motorist saw the front-end damage and contacted authorities.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the crash and liability.
