SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 31, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Wednesday on Home Avenue in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego County.
The deadly crash occurred around 4:53 a.m. on May 31st in the 4100 block of Home Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.
A 61-year-old woman was driving a black 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck in the eastbound No. 2 lane when she struck the woman in the 4100 block of Home Avenue, according to Fox 5 News.
The victim, a 59-year-old woman, was reportedly walking in a westerly direction in the eastbound No. 2 lane and was not in a crosswalk, police said. The pickup truck hit the pedestrian and she landed in the No. 1 lane of Home Avenue. That’s where a white pick up truck ran over the victim already on the ground.
The woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The two pickup truck drivers stopped and cooperated with police.
Meanwhile, investigators working in the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division were on the scene piecing together the facts to determine fault.
