Deadly Crash on I-5 North Near Camp Pendleton

SAN DIEGO (March 31, 2025) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Monday on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Las Pulgas Road near Camp Pendleton.

The deadly crash happened around 4:21 a.m. on March 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP reported a white Chevrolet Silverado work truck struck the victim, pulled over, and called 911 to report possibly hitting someone on the freeway.

Police responded and confirmed the truck was missing its left-front headlight and part of its black grill. The Camp Pendleton Fire Department responded with paramedics to the scene and located a person deceased in the roadway.

Authorities closed down several lanes temporarily to investigate the Camp Pendleton pedestrian accident. All lanes reopened by 5:40 a.m. the same day.
