DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Riverside (October 5, 2016) – A pedestrian sustained fatal injuries as a result of being hit by a vehicle on North Indian Canyon Drive at Thomas Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The accident took place at about 8:05 p.m. As per the log, a man was walking at the area between Mobile Drive and Desert Sand Road when suddenly, he was struck by a passing car.
The impact tossed the pedestrian to the ground where he was found by responding medics. It was not immediately clear whether the victim died at the scene or in a hospital.
Further, the CHP team mentioned a dog was found at the site. The Press Enterprise said the chihuahua survived and is the deceased’s dog.
Meanwhile, the vehicle was described as a 1999 Lexus driven by 54-year-old Colette Ruth Tobuch, of Desert Hot Springs.
Officers continue to investigate the cause of the fatal crash.
