Pedestrian Killed in Crash on I-15 Freeway
BAKER, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Tuesday night on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway roughly nine miles from the town of Baker.
The traffic accident was reported by the driver to police at about 11:03 p.m. on October 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
CHP operators received a call from the motorist who stated an “object hit his vehicle,” the report said. It was determined that the object was actually a pedestrian and the driver pulled his white Toyota into the center divider to wait for police.
CHP deputies responded to the scene and located a person who was unresponsive on the roadway.
Paramedics were also at the scene and provided medical aid and CPR, but soon pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene, the report said. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner will release the victim’s name, age and gender after notifying family members.
Meanwhile, the driver of the white Toyota involved in the crash cooperated with investigators. A tow truck removed the Toyota with major front-end damage.
The investigation is headed up by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.
