Fatality on Highway 29 Involving Pedestrian and Semi-Truck, Napa County
NAPA, Calif., (April 7, 2026) — A young man died in a pedestrian accident involving a semi-truck on Tuesday on Highway 29 near Hoffman Lane near Yountville in Napa.
The incident took place on April 7th at approximately 12:16 p.m. on southbound State Route 29, just south of Hoffman Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch. The report stated a male pedestrian in his 20s or early 30s was in the middle of the lane when the collision occurred. The semi-truck involved was identified as a Peterbilt, and it was positioned on the right-hand side of the roadway following the incident.
Traffic was severely impacted, with both southbound lanes blocked, prompting the issuance of a SigAlert. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and other emergency units responded to the scene quickly, but unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.
Cal Fire had reportedly been informed about a possible previous attempt by the pedestrian to cross the roadway the night before in a nearby area, according to logs.
Authorities are conducting an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The CHP is seeking witnesses who may have observed the event or have information pertinent to the investigation.
