Man Killed in Crash at Thousand Oaks Intersection
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened Sunday at Kimber Drive and Baxter Street in Thousand Oaks.
The deadly crash occurred at around 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 15th, near Maple Elementary School, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say a 16-year-old girl was driving eastbound when she struck and killed a man who was walking in the bicycle lane on the side of the roadway.
The motorist also collided into the back of a utility truck that was parked on the north edge of the curb.
Paramedics responded and attempted life-saving measures on the man, but he died at the scene of the collision. Authorities did not release the victim’s name, pending notification of his next of kin.
The teenager stopped and cooperated with investigators upon their arrival at the scene.
Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but distracted driving or inattention is under review.
