Woman, 25, Struck and Killed in Santa Ana Car Accident
SANTA ANA, Calif. (August 2, 2024) – A driver struck and killed a 25-year-old woman Thursday at MacArthur Boulevard and Birch Street in Santa Ana.
The deadly collision occurred just before 1 p.m. on August 1st, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
The young woman was walking in a crosswalk when the driver began to turn left from Birch Street onto MacArthur Boulevard, the Santa Ana Police Department said.
Paramedics with the Orange County Fire Authority responded and found the woman unconscious in the roadway. They transported her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators working on the case reported the woman was walking eastbound inside a crosswalk prior to the collision. The driver was headed southbound on Birch Street prior to turning into the eastbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard.
The driver stopped their vehicle and cooperated with investigators. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the traffic accident.
