Fatal Pedestrian Accident Midway Drive, Sports Arena Boulevard in San Diego

Man, 65, Struck by Truck Midway Drive and Sports Arena Blvd.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2024) — A truck driver struck and killed a 65-year-old man as he was crossing Midway Drive Tuesday night in the Midway District of San Diego.

The deadly crash occurred at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, between Sports Arena Boulevard and West Point Loma Boulevard, according to the San Diego Police Department and the Times of San Diego.

The San Diego Police Department reported the truck had a green light and was traveling north in the 3800 block of Midway Drive. The man was reportedly walking in the south crosswalk on Sports Arena Boulevard before he began walking across Midway Drive, police said.

The man sustained major injuries and he died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation into the pedestrian accident on Midway Drive.
