Man Struck, Killed at Chowchilla Blvd., Road 15
MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2023) — A driver in a pickup truck struck and killed a man early Thursday in a pedestrian accident at a Highway 99 off ramp to Chowchilla Boulevard in Madera County.
The deadly crash occurred at around 6 a.m. on Oct. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say the hit-and-run crash occurred on Chowchilla Blvd near Road 15.
The 45-year-old Fresno man was reportedly walking along the shoulder of a Highway 99 off-ramp to Chowchilla Blvd at the time he was hit by the suspect’s pickup truck.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver fled the scene and failed to help the injured man.
