Woman Killed in Interstate 5 Freeway Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Oct. 7, 2021) — A fatal Sherman Heights pedestrian accident happened early Thursday morning on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
The deadly crash happened about 7 a.m. on Oct. 7th, just north of Island Avenue overcrossing, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a Ford SUV struck a woman in her 30s as she walked on the freeway in the northbound lanes.
The CHP reported the woman was transported to a hospital where she died s short time later.
The driver in the Ford SUV pulled over to the freeway’s center median following the collision. Police noted the vehicle had front-end damage as well as a cracked windshield on the driver’s side.
The driver cooperated with CHP officers and the subsequent investigation.
There is an ongoing investigation into the fatal Sherman Heights area pedestrian accident.
