Man Walking with Bicycle Killed in Hit-and-run Crash

FRESNO, Calif. (May 1, 2024) — A pedestrian died early Tuesday in a traffic accident on Polk Avenue, just north of Gettysburg Avenue in Fresno.

The man in his 40s was struck by a vehicle just after 12 a.m. on May 1st by a driver who fled the scene, according to the Fresno Bee.

Authorities located the injured man in the middle of road and he was transported by paramedics to Community Regional Medical Center. The unidentified man later died in the emergency room, police said.

Investigators are working on the case and noted there was an undamaged bicycle at the scene, but police believe the victim was walking with the bike.

Preliminary results of the investigation show both the pedestrian and the vehicle were heading north on Polk when the crash occurred.
