Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on Pomona Freeway
MONTEBELLO, Calif. (Sept. 18, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian accident happened Tuesday night on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello.
The deadly crash occurred at 10:38 p.m. on Sept. 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP sent police officers to the freeway near the Garfield Avenue off-ramp, police said.
They located the pedestrian down in the roadway and the vehicle involved was blocking a traffic lane on the freeway, police said.
Unfortunately, the victim suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Police did not mention if the person was male or female and did not disclose their age. The Los Angeles County Sheriff-Coroner will identity the person after their relatives are notified.
Meanwhile, CHP officials issued a SigAlert and closed down three lanes of the eastbound freeway for several hours to conduct an investigation into the fatal pedestrian accident in Montebello.
