Police Arrest Suspect in Hit-and-run Crash in Vermont Vista
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 10, 2023) — A fatal, hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened Sunday night at Vermont Avenue and 98th Street in the Vermont Vista neighborhood in South LA.
A driver in a white sedan reportedly struck a man in his 50s around 9:30 p.m. on April 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol and KTLA News.
The motorist fled the scene and left the victim in the roadway where he died from his injuries.
The man’s identity will be released after his relatives are notified.
Meanwhile, police were searching for the suspect who fled the scene of the pedestrian accident on Vermont Avenue. Authorities later located the vehicle likely involved in the crash about 10:20 p.m. at 111th Street and Budlong Avenue. Police subsequently arrested its driver and booked the person into jail.
Investigators are working on the case., but there are no further details at this time.
