The crash took place about 10:30 p.m. on June 24. The driver of a light-colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Vernon Avenue when they drove through a red traffic light at Ascot Avenue and struck the pedestrian who was attempted to cross the street.
The driver in the vehicle sped off without stopping to help the victim. Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported the injured man to a hospital, but he later died of his injuries.
