Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-run with Truck on Lakeville Highway (116)
PETALUMA, Calif. (August 27, 2021) — A fatal Petaluma motorcycle accident involving a hit-and-run truck happened Friday morning on Lakeville Highway (State Route 116) at Stage Gulch Road.
UPDATE: The coroner identified David Pearson, 67, of Plymouth, Mass., as the motorcyclist who died.
The deadly crash happened about 11:11 a.m. on Friday, August 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was heading west on Stage Gulch on a Harley Davidson. He reportedly slowed down for a stop sign at the intersection. However, witnesses report he didn’t come to a full stop and entered the highway. That’s when he crashed into the side of a big rig tanker truck.
The rider suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Hit-and-run Crash Investigation
Someone called 911 to report the collision and told authorities they had dash camera footage of the collision.
Authorities are searching for the semi-truck carrying a tank in the back.
Meanwhile, the coroner was summoned to the scene and police issued a SigAlert about 11:47 a.m.
Investigators closed down the roadway due to the investigation into the fatal Petaluma motorcycle accident.
