Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Wilson Ranch Road in Phelan
PHELAN, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2022) — A fatal pedestrian accident in Phelan happened early Monday morning on Wilson Ranch Road between Smoke Tree Road and Coyote Road in San Bernardino County.
The deadly crash occurred about 4:56 a.m. on August 1st, according to a dispatch report by the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say the person was seen walking in the middle lanes when an oncoming vehicle struck them.
Fatal Crash in San Bernardino County
Someone called 911 to report the crash and told authorities the father and other family members of the victim arrived at the scene following the collision. The accident happened in a residential area of Phelan on a two-lane roadway. Police closed down both the north and south-bound lanes of Wilson Ranch Road due to the crash and investigation.
Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene with the coroner. A tow truck also came to remove the vehicle for evidence. Traffic lanes reopened by 7:01 a.m. after the roadway was completely cleared.
Finally, investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Phelan pedestrian accident.
