Man Struck and Killed on Highway 4 in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, Calif. (April 11, 2019) — A pedestrian running across state Highway 4 Wednesday night was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.
The fatal pedestrian accident took place about 9 p.m., just west of the Loveridge Road off ramp.
The victim was struck by a driver in a white Nissan sedan after he allegedly climbed over the center divide from the westbound to the eastbound lanes, the CHP said. The victim run in front of the oncoming vehicle in the No. 4 lane and had already died when officers arrived at the scene.
The driver in the Nissan stopped and cooperated with the CHP investigation. At this time, police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.
