Man, 64, Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 20, 2021) — A fatal Point Loma pedestrian accident happened May 11th on Rosecrans Street in San Diego.
The 64-year-old man who died is believed to be homeless. The driver struck the man as he crossed in the 1400 block of Rosecrans Street in the Roseville/Fleetridge neighborhood. The man was walking just outside of the crosswalk. An oncoming vehicle struck him about 8:45 p.m. near Hugo Street, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Immediately after the crash, the 21-year-old driver stopped and called for help.
Soon afterwards, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police Investigate Fatal Crash
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved was uninjured. Also, there were no citations or arrests were made.
The area where the crash happened is just north of Shelter Island and west of Naval Base Point Loma.
Finally, the San Diego Police Department is heading up the investigation into the Rosecrans Street pedestrian accident.
