Teen Riding Bicycle Killed; 2 Hurt in Car Crash on Ventura Road
PORT HUENEME, Calif. (April 20, 2021) — A fatal Port Hueneme bicycle accident on Ventura Road Monday night left one teenage boy dead and two others badly injured.
The fatal Port Hueneme crash happened about 9:28 p.m. on Monday, April 19th, according to the Ventura County Star.
A driver, identified as Samuel Rocha, 28, of Port Hueneme, reportedly crashed into a group of seven young people riding bicycles.
Three of the bicyclists were transported to local hospitals, but one of them died of his injuries overnight. The names of the victims were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, two other victims suffered major injuries and “significant lower body injuries,” in the Port Hueneme bicycle accident, police said.
Suspect Flees Fatal Crash Involving Teens on Bicycles
The Port Hueneme Police Department responded to the crash scene on Ventura Road at Pleasant Valley Road where they found the injured teenagers, but not the driver who hit them.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene, but the car was located in the 500 block of East Clara Street.
Later, Samuel Rocha turned himself in to police and was being booked as of about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the fatal crash is under investigation by the Port Hueneme police department.
