Deadly Crash in Porterville on State Route 65
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (August 6, 2021) — A fatal Porterville crash on State Route Highway 65 early Friday morning involved a truck and two other vehicles.
The collision happened about 3:14 a.m. on August 6th near Henderson Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a white box truck was heading southbound when the vehicle suffered a flat tire. Subsequently, the truck crashed into a guard rail and stopped in southbound lanes.
Meanwhile, an oncoming GMC and a maroon Honda sedan collided with the disabled truck.
Sadly, the driver of the Honda died at the scene of the Porterville crash on Highway 65, police said.
Also, one person was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Other injured people were transported to hospitals by ambulance.
The total number of people hurt in the crash is unknown at this time.
Additionally, there was a diesel gas spill from the truck in the roadway that required cleanup. As a result of the crash, police closed down southbound Highway 65 between Henderson and Olive Avenues.
