Quincy Girl, 17, Killed; 2 Injured in Rollover Crash

 Fatal Quincy Rollover Crash Bucks Lake Road (Sept. 28)QUINCY, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2021) —  A fatal Quincy rollover crash happened Monday night on eastbound Bucks Lake Road (Highway 162).

A 17-year-old Quincy teen died in the collision and two others were injured in the 7:50 p.m. crash on Sept. 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 17-year-old girl was driving the black 2004 Honda with two passengers ages 17 and 20 years old. The group of friends were heading eastbound on Highway 162 also known as Bucks Lake Road.

As the vehicle came to a left-hand curve in the roadway, the Honda lost its traction and went southward off the road and fell about 40 feet down an embankment. The vehicle hit a boulder and overturned onto its roof.  The car accident took place just west of Grubbs Cow Camp.

The driver suffered moderate injuries in the collision. However, her two passengers suffered major injuries. The 17-year-old Quincy girl died at the scene.

Firefighters and paramedics with Bucks Lake Fire, Meadow Valley Fire, and Plumas District Hospital all responded to the scene to help the young people. They arrived on scene about 8:50 p.m. that night.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the injured driver and 20-year-old Oroville woman by ground ambulances to the hospital. Due to the weather, helicopters were unable to respond to the crash scene.

They were first transported to Plumas District Hospital. However, the passenger was subsequently taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

The girl who died was a Plumas Charter School senior.

Finally, the crash remains under investigation.
