Fatal Ramona Crash Main Street (State Route 67), Boortz Lane on Labor Day

1 Dead, 1 Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash

RAMONA, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2023) — A fatal Ramona crash involving two motorists happened early Monday morning on Main Street (state Route 67) at Boortz Lane.

The deadly crash occurred on Labor Day around 3:41 a.m. on Sept. 4th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The occurred, involving an alleged drunken driver, involved a man driving a Volkswagen and a woman driving a Toyota. The driver in the Volkswagen reportedly crossed over the center dividing line of Main Street and crashed head-on into the Toyota.

Firefighters responded and extricated the man from his vehicle, but he died at the scene, the report said. Meanwhile, the woman from the Toyota was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault. However, they believe alcohol was a factor after locating open containers in the deceased man’s Volkswagen, the CHP said.

Finally, authorities closed down Main Street in both directions to conduct the investigation into the Ramon crash on Main Street.
