Fatal Redding Hit-and-run: Person Found Dead on Interstate 5 Freeway at Cypress Avenue
REDDING, Calif. (Dec. 7, 2020) — A fatal Redding hit-and-run crash left one person dead early Monday on the Interstate 5 Freeway.
Now investigators are going over evidence found at the scene to identify the vehicle involved, according to the California Highway Patrol. There were vehicle parts found near the body and the freeway.
Fatal Redding Hit-and-run Driver Sought
According to the CHP, the person’s body was found about 5:12 a.m. at the Cypress Avenue off-ramp leading from northbound I-5. However, police have not released the victim’s gender at this time.
Furthermore, police alerted the coroner to respond to the scene and remove the body.
Meanwhile, at the crash scene, the right lane is closed as officers investigate and collect evidence. The identity of the victim will be released after their family is notified of the death.
Finally, the No. 3 lane of the freeway was closed down temporarily, but reopened for traffic about 7:18 a.m. The CHP incident number is 00013. Witnesses are urged to contact authorities.
