One Killed in Crash on I-580 in Richmond

RICHMOND, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2023) — A fatal Richmond crash happened Friday morning on the westbound Interstate 580 Freeway, just east of the Harbour Way off ramp.

Two or three vehicles including a Toyota pickup truck collided due to unknown circumstances. The pickup truck also went over the embankment, knocked down a sign, crashed into a tree and overturned onto its side. The multi-vehicle crash occurred at around 6:46 a.m. on Oct. 27th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two of the vehicles were crashed at the scene, but a third car reportedly kept driving, the report said. One person was trapped in the pickup no pulse and needed help.

The Richmond Fire Department responded with paramedics to help the injured, but unfortunately one person died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the pickup truck required a tow truck to remove it from the scene.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the Long Beach accident on the Artesia 91 Freeway.
