Pedestrian Struck, Killed on I-580 Freeway

RICHMOND, Calif. (May 23, 2024) — A fatal pedestrian accident happened early Thursday on the Interstate 580 Freeway at Harbour Way in Richmond.

The deadly crash occurred at around 1:25 a.m. on May 23rd, 2024, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver traveling westbound on the I-580 struck the victim in traffic lanes near the Harbour Way off-ramp, the report said.

Paramedics and police responded to help the victim, but unfortunately the person died at the scene.

Investigators closed down the freeway’s westbound lanes for roughly two hours to work on the case and determine fault for the pedestrian accident on the 580 Freeway.
