RIVERSIDE, Calif. (July 17, 2023) — A fatal Riverside crash on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway happened Sunday morning near 6th Street.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 11:35 a.m. on July 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Cal Fire Riverside responded with CHP officers to the scene where they located a black Volkswagen Jetta and a white sedan.
Witnesses reported the white sedan was allegedly speeding prior to the traffic accident. At least one of the vehicles crashed into trees on the right shoulder and one person was trapped underneath a vehicle.
Meanwhile, tow trucks came to remove the damaged vehicles and the CHP is heading up an investigation into what happened.
The identity of the person who died will be released after family members are notified.
