Deadly 3-Vehicle Crash in Riverside on I-215 Freeway
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2021) — A fatal Riverside multi-vehicle accident happened Thursday morning on the Interstate 215 Freeway.
The collision happened about 7:03 a.m. on Nov. 11th near the state Route 60 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a white Toyota 4-door sedan reportedly cut off an Enterprise box truck and a blue Ford pickup as it crossed the gore point to enter the southbound Interstate 215 Freeway, the report said.
The car set off a collision with the two trucks and became completely destroyed in the crash. Also, five people in one of the vehicles became trapped and a child suffered a head injury.
The Riverside Fire Department responded to transport the child and six others to a hospital with major injuries. Lorena Negrete, 34, of Ontario, died in the collision, but there are no further details.
Caltrans closed down the freeway interchange at the entrance to southbound I-215 due to the crash investigation and cleanup.
Police also issued a SigAlert due to traffic congestion from the crash.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into the collision and will determine fault.
